When the shop grows
These are of no interest to a one-person shop, and they become indispensable the moment there is a team, a van and customers you deliver to.
Orders and picking
Take the order before the goods are there — it touches neither stock nor the customer's balance until it is delivered. The storekeeper groups the day's orders into one picking list, then prints every delivery note in one go.
Quotes, notes and invoices
The full chain: quote, purchase order, delivery note, invoice. Each step carries the previous one forward, quantities stay editable for a partial delivery, and nothing is counted twice in stock.
Cash and settlements
Open the till in the morning, count it at night: the variance is recorded with its reason. One settlement can clear several invoices at once, and a bounced cheque puts the invoices it covered back as they were.
Depots and transfers
